Breathing is medicine

Breathing is medicine

Breathing is one of the most basic functions of our body and the most important function in life.

Effective breathing exercises have many health benefits, from dynamic adjustments to the abdominal muscle wall to improved immune and brain function.

Breathing has many benefits for the body and mind. It supports many important systems in your body and can help improve both short- and long-term physical and mental health.

Breathing can balance one’s mental state, as demonstrated through controlled breathing exercises in yoga and other ancient meditative traditions.

In recent years, medical clinical researchers have begun to uncover some of the underlying neural mechanisms of breathing and its many effects on the mind and body:

– Synchronizing heart rate and breathing rate improves heart rate variability.

– People with higher heart rate variability have a higher ability to adapt to stress, which is associated with improved mood, sleep and overall health.

Breathing is so important to life, it’s no wonder humans long ago noticed its value not only for survival but also for physical and mental functioning, and began to control it to improve well-being.

The benefits of practicing simple deep breathing on a regular basis include:

– Reduce anxiety and depression

– Lower/stabilize blood pressure

– Increase energy level

– Improve immunity

– Reduces stress and feelings of overwhelm.

– Reduces post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms.

– Think more clearly and feel less anxious.

In every mindfulness practice at TULA Wellness: yoga / sound healing meditation / traditional Chinese medicine detoxification workshop / body therapy, etc., there are professional instructors and healers to accompany you and help you enter effective breathing more completely.

We hope that after five days and four nights of De-stress and detox retreats, you can return to your daily routine with a fuller set of breathing techniques and keep practicing.
